* Peer-to-peer: used for sharing resources (files, printers, storage)
* Client-server: data management & hosting are centralized at the server.

### Network types

* **LAN** (Ethernet standard): used in limited geographical area (floor, building, campus...)
* **WAN**: connects devices in a large geographical area, such as multiple cities or countries. WAN are used to connect LANs, and use technologies such as fiber-optic cables. The Internet is the largest WAN.
